Need to run bcdedit on Windows 8 To Go

I need to run bcdedit on my Windows 8 To Go installation, but I'm not sure how to do that. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The boot configuration data is either corrupted or missing on my Windows 8 To Go USB flash drive. I am trying to run bcdedit, but am unable to figure out how to do so. I receive a bcd boot error when attempting to load Windows 8 To Go.

I think you want to run BCDBOOT, not BCDEDIT. Say the USB Drive is G:, the command is

{path to}\BCDBOOT.exe g:\windows /s /f ALL g:

which means boot to g:\windows transferring system files to BCD store on g: force either GTP or MBR boot.

You probably need to run the /store switch with bcdedit. Type bcdedit /store /? to see the options. If you know where the store is, you should be able to provide a path.

You may want to run Bootrec, boot to a command prompt in a Windows 8 Install disk, you will have to get one. Then run "Bootrec /Fixmbr then /Scanos"

You can use Hiren's Boot CD and Mini-XP to run an elevated command prompt, but you have to change directory to your c:\Windows\System32\ folder to get to Bootrec. That may or may not work.
