Solved No taskbar nor metro view

Suddenly i turned on my computer and wrote the password of my user then screen just turned black and nothing came up (not desktop view nor the metro view). Then i moved the mouse and i could see the pointer on the screen so i thought maybe i am on the desktop view (i still guess that's it) but the taskbar from below doesnt show up. I clicked on my keyboard "Windows" button which makes my laptop go to Metro View but it did nothing. All i can do is move the pointer around and use the task manager. Throught the task manager i can open folders, apps etc... but obviously my windows is broken and i dont know how to fix it.

I tried googling around this problem and couldnt find people with it. I tried to create a new task (in task manager) "explorer.exe" that did not work.

What can i do?

Have you already tried restarting the PC to see if may have been only some glitch?

If that doesn't help, then you might see if doing a system restore (at boot if needed) using a restore point (if available) dated before this issue happened may be able to undo it.

Does this happen with every boot? I'm assuming you did try to reboot, correct?

If upon every reboot, can you reach safe mode? And/or does Windows key + X show a menu?

Yes guys, it happens with every boot, i did try restarting, forgot to mention. Win + X does nothing. The laptop is a dell 1525, i installed Windows 8 about a week ago. I suppose i can reach safe mode but im not sure, will try that tomorrow. I left home already for business and the laptop is there.

So, you are getting a black screen with a cursor, is that it? This is called the new "Black Screen of Death" and you can google that for more info, it's a common problem with 8. But in this state, you have a working cursor but no access to your Desktop or Start Screen.

Can you pull up Task Manager by the 3-fingered salute Ctrl-Alt-Del? If you can, check your activation by starting a "CMD" task and type in "SLMGR.vbs /dlv" and then "/xpr".

Not to support this activity, but I have seen this happen when people have used one of those crack activators, I had to do an In-Place Install and activate with a valid key. I've successfully fixed 2 systems that were like this.

If your key is valid, and your system says it is activated, you may have to do an In-Place install, for that you will need a Windows 8 Install disk or the installer on a flash drive. You can start the install by opening up Task Manager and browsing to the "Setup.exe" file on the install disk. This way you won't lose any personal data or programs.

Otherwise, you may have to re-install Windows 8 fresh.

One thing I never tried was using the DISM command from the command prompt in the blacked-out state. This Tutorial shows how to use it:

Hey guys, im sorry for my late reply and thanks for your replies. I actually fixed it the same night i last posted and havent had a problem ever since. This is how i did it incase there is someone else with the same prob i had:

ctlr+alt+del --> access task manager --> open a new task (cmd.exe)--> then you will need to open the cmd with admin priviledges or it wont let you do anything, so in "process" right click on cmd.exe and click on "open file location" and now close the cmd window, then go to the folder where the cmd.exe is located at (the one you just opened) and right click the cmd.exe and hit "run as administrator" --> in cmd type: "SFC /scannow" (without the ") And now restart your pc, windows will check it files on reboot and everything will be fixed.

Ah, good. I had tried that in the affected systems, but I didn't run it in Admin mode. That's probably what I did wrong and why I had to re-install 8. But they were still crackivated and I had to remedy THAT.
