Hi guys,
Can anyone give me a solution why Windows Explorer always crashing everytime I want to launch it? Last time I do before it happen is scanning the whole system with Avast! Anti-virus, On 60% of file scanned, I want to copy something and then I don't know why the Explorer won't open and the desktop seems like restarted and it always happened everytime now. How can I fix this anyway?

The log I have from Event Viewer is this, maybe it help a little bit

So, it won't open at all?

For starters, try running some of the Anti Rootkit programs I suggested in that thread. Save them to your desktop so you can run them from there.

After that, try an Admin Command Prompt (winkey+X, Choose Admin Command Prompt) and run SFC /scannnow.

You will have to run it about three times, if that does not help, we can move on to the DISM command.

I notice you are using Windows 7 gadgets.. what other hacks have you applied to your system? I suggest you remove any hacks you have done, as those are probably the source of your problem.

How can I do rescan on ESETSirefef? It always say No Threat Found, and also when I boot the windows today, I get more free RAM on startup from 700MB to 1GB, before this problem happened the RAM is always down to 500MB free RAM, Service Local System eating up a huge memory but not now. It looks like something killing a processes. :what:

Have you tried running SFC /scannow? Do it from an Admin Command Prompt, run it three times.

Then you can move on to the DISM command, but I am not sure exactly how to implement it, it may be this:

Repair a Windows Image

Did you do a Fresh Install, or an In-Place Install, that would have fixed it probably.

Sometimes it's hard to track down why these things happen, it was probably an incompatibility that arose with one of your Programs or Shell Extensions. Sorry I could not help you find the cause. Sometimes it is a combination of things. But mostly I have found Windows 8 to be pretty stable. It's always best to install it fresh anyway, rather than upgrading Windows XP/7 or Vistshite. Because any problems with the OS under those OSes get transferred to the upgraded OS.

Well, that's where all of your User Files have gone, you can restore those, but you will have to re-install your Programs. Once you get them all back to where they belong, you will have to use "Unlocker" to delete the Windows.Old" folder, it can take up to 20 minutes.

If you install Unlocker, do a "Custom Install" and DE-SELECT the "Delta Toolbar" - Thats a virus. But Unlocker isn't, it's safe.

Unlocker will do it, but you have to make sure you do not install the Virus that's packed with it.

I wish I could figure out ho to remove the toolbar from the installer, but that's the way it's distributed. Maybe I'll contact the guy who makes it.

But your Explorer is no longer crashing? You should have kept your Windows.old user folders and let me take a look at what was installed.

I'm afraid about virus and a browser tool bar/custom webpage now, because my internet explore is now using start[dot]qone8[dot]com as the default webpage and I don't know how to remove it, it's not even removed when I do a reset several times. I do reinstall for Chrome and Firefox just because this webpage :banghead:

Anyway I deleted the windows.old folder :D I need more space so I move the important files and deleted all program files folder. And of course no more crash

Then this makes me even more positive you are infected with something, and if you do not deal with it, eventually you will have the same problem you started out with.

Also, I want to thank you for showing me yet another Browser threat, I didn't know about this one, good job finding it, but now we have to get rid of it.

Try These Steps to remove it:

Remove Qone8.com

you have to isolate these files and remove them:

Qone8.exe
q8.exe

Abd kill off these processes in Task Manager:

q8.exe
Qone8.exe

Ok, if you clicked on the "Windows Media Update" it's a virus. While running IE, open Tools/Internet Options, and go to the Connections panel and go down to LAN and then Proxies:

proxy.png

Make sure "Proxies" has NO address in there, after you wipe the address out of there, then Disable Proxies.

Also, go to Eset.com and download NOD32 Antivirus 6, you can use it for 7 days trial, thats enough to scan your whole drive and get rid of this thing.

Also, qone8.exe will be in one of your hidden System or Program folders, check in your User folder under Appdata, you can't see that folder unless you set the View settings to show System and Hidden folders and files. Then you can look for the file in the places it says where it is in the link to get rid of it, because even if you can't find it, it's THERE.
