Hello,

I bought a new laptop with Windows 8, and I was told at the shop to charge it at least 6 hours before the first boot.
Is it really necessary? And if yes, why?

Thanks :D

A good idea, but you should be able boot the Notebook with Power cable plugged in, on first boot up.

It is necessary for some laptops and you do not want the laptop to die while setting up the operating system and applying all the updates.

When i got my windows 8 laptop, i took the advise and plugged it in, you can still go on it, set it up and do whatever you want while it's plugged in.
It has to be plugged, because brand new batteries can't charge as quickly as old ones, no idea why, just how it works. :p

You should let any brand new laptop charge fully before use it even for the first time. It's training the Battery. SOme laptops won't run at all until the battery level gets to a certain spot. Just let it charge, then you'll be OK. Thanxs!
