Camera Pictures

Hi: New to the group. After loading pictures from my camera the pictures on the camera do not delete. Win 7 had a little box to check to delete the pictures. How do you set this in Win 8? I have looked and cannot find the place to set this. Thanks for any help.

Thanks. We are ebay sellers and edit these pictures using the windows 8 software. We then upload to a hosting service for our ebay business. I can not find the Windows setting to auto delete the photos from the camera after they are uploaded. We take 2000 - 4000 pictures a month and it is a pain to delete manually. thanks for any help....

Hello Lisa, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Other than finding a different app in the Store that includes this feature, I like to use File Explorer to directly browse the camera to be able to copy/move/delete/cut/paste etc... images off the camera like anything else.

Thanks for the suggestion. This is not what I am really after. When I attach the camera to the USB port, it is recognized, and a box shows that allows you to give this group of pictures a name as well as a date. In Win 7 there was a small box to check to delete the pictures from the camera after they have been loaded. Am I to assume that there is no way to do this in Windows 8, that the capability has been removed?

By default, the Photos app is used to view and import the files when you have AutoPlay set to use "Import photos and videos (Photos)" for your camera device.

I have not seen an option available to delete the imported files from the camera in the Photos app either.

Basically, we'll need to install an app that has that feature and select the same option above in AutoPlay, but with the new apps name at the end instead of (Photos). If you like, you could also select "Open device to view files (File Explorer)" in AutoPlay for the camera device to make it easier to do what I posted above for File Explorer whenever you attach the camera.

Did the camera come with any software DVD/CD ?, my digital camera came with picture browsing software that starts up when the camera is attached , imports the images by date (also has the option to stick them in sub-folders based on the date they were taken) and has an option to delete pictures after they are imported.

I use that to grab the stuff off the camera and then use other programs to edit / publish them.

Windows usually only deletes pics from a Camera Card, I've never seen it delete straight from the camera. Maybe there are some cameras that allow this, but I had a Camera that when plugged in, would not delete from the camera after importing pics. So I just took the card out and did it that way.

It won't delete from my iPhone either. I think the pics are protected while on the device/camera.

Hey Jon,

Yeah, we used to have the option to tag and erase pictures when imported from the camera in Vista and Windows 7. We just don't have this option by default anymore in Windows 8/8.1.

I think she may have peed on it cos the previous owners had a Dog. I found the Camera in my room at Circus Circus West Tower, just laying on the ground. There were pics in there, with a Dog prevalent in a lot of them. I had laid it on the ground and my cat just went right up to it and peed on it!

Thats what I get for not turning the camera in to the desk, but I had never had a camera before, usually I do return items I find, it was a lapse, maybe it was the jack Daniels I had been drinking when I found it. Anyway, I don't excuse the act, I feel bad that I did it. It was a great Canon Sureshot 1.3 Mpxl camera.

Anyways,m Karma got me back, someone stole the radar Detector out of my Truck last week, a Whistler I had for 13 years. SO I consider the matter closed, and I accept that. If the person who stole it from me gets the 13 years of being able to avoid police cars like I had, then I hope it does them good.
