Problems with app search

I can't access any programs from the Win+Q search function. Every time I type something into the search box, the results will appear for a split second before the screen switches back to the desktop. I can't even open any programs from the search box in My Computer. I haven't made any drastic changes to my computer. Any ideas?

Nope, still not working. Thanks anyway. I've run a few anti virus scans as well (the only progs I can run are those on the desktop), and no malicious files have been found.

Ok I've spent the last 4 hours working my way through that list, and the problem is still there. I've also run a bunch of online virus scanners in addition to my own, and deleted temp files. Any other ideas?

One last try. See if you have this option checked:

If it is checked, then I'm out of ideas. Sorry, in advance, if this final suggestion does not work for you.

I bet the solution is something real simple.....does anyone else know what the problem could be?

Just to clarify, when I type something into the search box (Win+Q), the program freezes and i'm returned to the windows desktop. The only way i can run programs is though the run command!

Scannow showed no corrupted or missing files?

Could have been after an update. Try rolling it back to a previous date?

Please fill out your system specs in your forum control panel.

No nothing seemed to work so I just did a system restore. It's all good now.

Btw, i'm having another problem and rather than start another thread I'm hoping I can maybe get it answered here...

I want to completely uninstall 'SRS premium sound' as I think it's tainting my audio, i.e. causing too much low end rumble. It appears in the app search, but I can't open it. It doesn't even appear in the control panel, 'playback devices', or the add/remove program box. Is there any other way I can remove it?

Best to start a new thread for this new issue and mark this thread as solved. I'll betcha you get quicker responses that way. Chhers and glad you fixed it.
