Recently i updated my laptop and when it was finished updating the keyboard no longer worked. Before the update it worked fine and i had no problems. I restarted it several times and restored it but still nothing. Now im stuck using the on screen keyboard which is a pain. I also went to try and fix it using device manager but it wasn't listed. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Try a full shutdown and see if that helps.

Use <Windows Key>+<R> and (or open a Command Prompt) type this in:
Code:
shutdown.exe /s /f /t 00

The next thing I'd try is a System Restore, if you have a Restore point before your updates.

If you do that, it will wipe out everything on the laptop, so it's a drastic measure.

Can you post a screenshot of Device Manager - if there is a Keyboards section, can you expand it out before taking the screenshot?

Thanks for that.

What does it show if you expand out "Human Interface Devices"?

Easy fix! :
"All you have to do is go down to where the time is shown on your laptop and show hidden icons. There should be an icon shaped like a timer, just click on that and it'll come up with your keyboard settings. You need to untick the boxes that say filter keys or anything of the sort. Make sure the time it takes for your computer to accept keystrokes is 0.5 seconds. Then just click apply and it should be fine.''

I got this from another site and it worked like a charm for me and my husband's laptop. Hope it works for you too!
