So.. something I just noticed with 8.1, you can actually run Metro apps on multiple screens now. Including split-screening each one. I have three monitors, and found I could drag metro apps to each screen and they would stay there, and run.

On top of that, Metro apps no longer appear on whatever screen the start page happens to be opened on.

Of course, everyone knows you can now have arbitrary split screening as well.

So I have 3 monitors, and I can have 6 Metro apps open in various sizes, or 5 metro apps and a desktop, or even 3 desktops and 3 metro apps, or 1 metro app and 2 desktops, or pretty much any combination...

Not that this is something all that amazing... it's what should have been the case in Windows 8, but i'm amazed I haven't seen anyone mention this yet in any reviews or commentary.

Wow, just discovered you do more than 2 apps (including desktop) on a screen as well... although it's not easy to figure out how to do this without touch, but here's an example:

There's an interesting video here:

It certainly is nice to be able to use as many built in abilities as possible.
But, I must confess, Modernmix solved the multi-tasking problem for me. To take full advantage, you do need a large monitor, but, with multi monitors, the options are mind boggling.

Use several different computers during a day, so specs are irrelevant.

With enough redefinition, refinement, hacking, and third party help metro apps may someday be able to make use of the screen as well as Microsoft's previous windowing system. You know, the one on that dated old desktop.

The full screen only one screen only Metro limitation was at the top of my list of things that needed fixing. This improvement has actually inspired me to have another go at running Windows 8(.1) on my desktop. I run dual monitors on that PC. So far I'm liking what I see.

Very nice feature, useful to multitask such as watching a youtube or listening to music while browsing.
