Win 8 64 bit - Audio Service not running, error 1067 +more

Alright, so posting here was a last resort. I've tried Google so many times today, learning a bit in the process. What has happened is that when I first started up my laptop this morning, it seems the audio is disabled. Along with this, the wireless connection is also disabled. Windows attempts to fix both of these problems, but only fixes the wireless. I've restarted multiple times to no avail, and each time, the wireless connection must be fixed by Windows. I've had this laptop for about a month, nothing has ever gone wrong.

I'm not sure if it's related, but when I go on Youtube, every video I attempt to watch stutters around for the first few seconds and/or goes directly to an error screen. I'm sure this has to be something with flash or something in general, considering it just started occurring with these other problems. I'm hoping I won't have to backup files and restore the laptop to the factory default, I was an idiot and deleted the only system restore point I had from a few days ago. I completely forgot system restore points only effect installed programs and Windows files.

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to place this thread, I wasn't sure if it should go in audio, considering I have some other problems that came along with this.

well, i just deleted my audio service following some tutorial to rebuild the audio service online, and now i can't rebuild it, i don't know why.

is there a way to turn the audio on and off in the BIOS?

i don't mean to be difficult, but i'm not sure what this means. i'm sorry, i'm not exactly somebody who goes deep into the technical stuff. thank you for attempting to help me, by the way.

The audio device may be shut off in the system bios. Or, the device may be disabled in Device Manager. Check that first, if its disabled, enable it. Then the drivers should automatically reinstall.

considering i deleted the audio service and i seem to have backed up everything important to me on a flash drive, is it required to have a disc of the operating system?

this laptop came preinstalled with windows 8, and i don't want to make my laptop completely unusable. i've read that companies who do this sell operating discs for cheap prices, though i don't have any proof of purchase or anything (if that's needed) because i bought this laptop secondhand.

What's the make and model of laptop? It may have a built-in recovery partition which restores to factory settings, or allow creation of a recovery DVD. Or you may be able to order a Windows 8 install disk from their website.

Very wise to make sure you have a mechanism to reinstall windows before wiping everything!

If it was me, I'd use a backup tool to take a complete image of the disk, so if nothing else you'd be able to get back to where you are now.

Another option might be to run a Windows refresh, although I'd still take that backup first.

i took a risk and did the factory reset (which took me about 4 hours lol) considering, like i said, i deleted a service and i read that they are hard to get back. i was meaning to do a factory reset because of how i felt i downloaded things i did not require and i had uninstalled them without really using a good program to clean any registry entries, and so i just felt a new start was in order. i knew i could have easily cleaned the registry and other loose files, but i don't know...

i did the factory reset because i saw how integrated the acer software was with windows, and i thought that it wouldn't get rid of windows, and that the factory reset i used was actually put in there by windows, so it wouldn't remove the os itself.

anyway, everything is working perfectly now. thank you both for your help.

by the way, xweaponx, i attempted to find how to enter the bios, but i gave up after a little while. the only tool i know to find my answers are google...i didn't really try very hard, because i knew a factory reset was what i really wanted. i really want to thank you guys.

You have a new machine so BIUOS is probably harder to get into, usually you press esc or F2 and it will show you how to get in, but you have to press those fast while it boots, if you have quick boot mode on, it dont give you much time to press the fkey. So you turn it on, then press F2 quickly. Keep trying different F keys until one of them opens up your BIOS area.

You could also get into it using Advanced Start Options, thats in PC settings on the Charms Bar. It will reboot, then give you some boot options the next time it comes up.

Anyways, you did a restore and got it all back, hopefully you didn't lose much.
