When Windows 8.1 came out, I upgraded to it from my existing Windows 8 installation and found myself having the "Start Menu" button back as well as an advanced Context Menu on the taskbar. See the picture below.
However, I've gone to Ubuntu and now back to Windows 8. Upgrading to Windows 8.1 doesn't give me the "Start menu" anymore and my context menu doesn't show the features for me to shut down my computer.
Anyone with more knowledge about this context menu able to give me some more advice? If I try getting the upgrade for Windows 8.1 again, it just tells me that the update has already been applied.
