Hello intesar,

It sounds like either pictures or the folder that they in have their attributes set to be hidden. Double check using the tutorial below to make sure that they are not set to be hidden to see if that is the issue.

File and Folder - Hide or Unhide - Windows 7 Help Forums

Hope this helps, :)

Download "Unhide" from Majorgeeks.com, that should fix it. You got any other icons now showing up? Check for Viruses too.

Here is the link - Copy it into your root folder on the C drive and follow the instructions on the webpage how to run it. Actually you don't have to copy it there, just to your desktop is OK.

Unhide Download

The Photos app displays pictures from your Pictures library by default.

It wouldn't hurt to double check the attributes of the files in any included folder of the library to make sure that they are not set to be hidden.

No sure what you mean. Do you mean the "Show all folders" option in Folder Options?

You should have Libraries showing in the navigation pane by default in Windows 8.

Yep, that's what it is then. If you have "Show all folders" checked, then the Show in Navigation Pane option for libraries will be grayed out. If you uncheck it, then you should be able to uncheck the "Show in Navigation Pane" box.
