Is there free solution to convert Word documents into PDFs

I'm so fed up with Adobe Acrobat -- why do I need to install 2GB of software to do simple .doc to .pdf conversions. So I'm curious, is there a free, or relatively inexpensive solution to do the following?

1. Convert Word documents into PDF.
2. Convert web pages into PDF from a web browser.

@David Bailey: I'm obviously asking about someone's personal experience and not just a search result. There's quite a lot of junk out there associated with the word "free," you know...

Thanks for suggestions. I'll check them out.

@XweAponX: Wow, I had no clue that Word 2007 can save as PDF. I kept paying Adobe all this time. Amazing. Only if I knew that in 2007 :) Now what about converting a web browser page into a pdf -- don't tell me it's also included? :)

PS. Obviously the best solution is when you don't have to install anything. Especially something as insecure and buggy as Adobe Acrobat.

Well, I'm positive it's in Office 2010, and since 2007 is almost identical save for the cloud services that are in 2010, it should be in there. Thanx.

Oh yah - If you can SAVE a webpage onto your Docs folder, you can open it in Word, and then convert it to PDF. That what you wanna do?

Foxit Reader can install add-ons for converting Word, Excel and PowerPoint files into pdfs.
MS has an add-on for Office 2007 ("SaveAsPDF.exe").
I have used those add-ons.

There is at least one plugin for Firefox that can save web pages as pdfs ("Save as PDF 1.5").
I haven't used it.

Well, it's good to have all these options, Does that addon for 2007 have to be downloaded separately, or is it in the package?

I'm surprised nobody mentioned doPDF so far. It can convert ANY kind of documents into PDFs so long as they can be sent to the standard printer.

And it's free, even for commercial use.

According to my Downloads partition, I downloaded it from MS in 2009.
It is < 1 MB in size.

I have Office 2010 and I use PDF24 and I have been for several years now with no problems. It allows you to "print" documents, emails, spreadsheets, etc. (even websites) as .pdf files. Give it a try!

Also, it is 100% free.

I have a really old version of Open Office, but it had save as PDF in there as well. So there are free PDF savers all over the net. You can also use Quicken's PDF printer - Just choose the document you wanna convert, and hit Print and choose the Quicken PDF Printer.
