Hi there
I've also posted on this question -- seems to me if there REALLY won't be a windows 8.1 for Enterprise then Ms probably has realized that Enterprises will by and large stick with W7 or migrate to W7 when their XP systems are "de-commissioned".

The most useful feature I've found with Windows 8 Enterprise is the Windows to go -- now whether this will continue to work with Windows 8.1 which is at the PRO level is a moot point -- I haven't had time to test this yet --I'll get round to it I suppose soon.

Now also if there won't be a Windows 8.1 enterprise why would you say as an I.T support person even THINK of upgrading an enterprise to W8 as you know it will already BE OUT OF DATE by the time you get it into production as W8.1 will have been released.

I have a feeling this this sort of confirms that there probably will be a Windows 9 sooner than one might think -- I don't think Ms realized the aggro that the new Metro interface has caused for Desktop users --in fact I think Ms totally underestimated the numbers of people who STILL NEED and want to use a Classical desktop OS -- not everything can be done on mobile phones or even the overgrown versions of mobile phones (Tablets --often even without the phone bit and those totally ridiculous and utterly absurd phablet devices). - Ever seen anybody using one of those phablets without splitting yourself laughing at the idiot holding what looks like a small Television to his "lug hole".

Well, I guess I was wrong :)

Wait for the availability of the Windows 8.1 Enterprise Preview ISO, which should be available in the coming weeks. Watch for an announcement on this blog when it is available.
It's been a month since that post, so your best option is to wait patiently :)

Hi there.

Obviously they've run into some snags big time -- with the imminent demise of XP I'd imagine enterprises have already STARTED on their update strategies -- they aren't going to hang around and wait for an unproven OS to be released and then go through rigorous testing before deciding if it IS or IS NOT fit for purpose.

It's not only the OS itself but all the back end applications that run on it that need to be tested --for example some businesses have already found out that for some Enterprise software that makes use of Web services and browsers that anything higher than IE9 in the majority of cases just will NOT WORK (things like SAP -- only one of the BIGGEST suppliers of ERP software on the planet) - and yet Ms are still trying to get even W7 users to upgrade to IE11). Things like IE10 / IE11 need to have a proper "Compatibility mode" where older HTML etc can still function -- business software is a much harder issue to upgrade than consumer orientated stuff.

So I'm still totally flummoxed on Ms's strategy here (assuming they have one).

So Ms each days delay probably causes another 100 businesses (or more) to reject the upgrade to any version of W8.
