Win 8.1

Loaded Win 8.1 on my second desktop. What a disaster!

I click on one thing & get something else. It is unusable!

I just clicked on file explorer & Homegroup pops up! When I try to click it down, nothing happens!

I clicked on one of the items in the stuck group & I get the Character Map! It can't be clicked down either!

Is anyone else having these problems?

Could it be the computer? It is an ASUS-AMD?

Maybe you should do a re-install or just run it on a VM.

When I had Windows 8 CP on my Asus netbook, it crashed everytime I opened a Metro app even when I did some hack on the resolution and have plugged it into a 15 inch monitor.

And maybe doing some Windows Updates can help too...

Seems unlikely. I run 8 on an Amd machine without issue... albeit in desktop mode, but I did try metro for a week initially and hated it, but it did behave the way it was supposed to.

I must be one of the lucky ones upgraded from w-8 to the 8.1 on a desktop and Laptop and did a clean install on another 2 Laptops with no issues so far as i can tel, even tried it on an older Sony Vio and worked but had issues good luck to all W-8.1 users, I Love the OS.

A major problem like this doesn't seem normal.

Maybe I will wipe it & reinstall!!

I have one desk top that I use as a Test Bed!

What is the best download site to use to download Win8.1?

July 30th, My wife & I celebrate our 64 Wedding Anniversary!! Can anyone top that?

My parents 69 years.

I did the upgrade to 8.1 on my ASUS K75DE Laptop. No issues like that but I did have some other problems. Wifi/Internet would randomly cut out. And my track pad would randomly stop working. I went back to just 8 and all is well again.

Boys and Girls, Ladies and Gentlemen, please remember 8.1 is still a beta no matter what name MS has given it (remember VMs can be your friend). . .:thumb:

im only at 28[started late 32 years old ] and dont ever expect to get to 64years ,and not even sure i would want to live to be 96,lol

Reinstall Win8.1

Well, 1 Doodit !

Wiped the AMD-Asus clean, again, & installed (the disk image route) a new download of Win8.1.

Seems to be OK now! That is the fun of beta testing!

I guess it was a case of too many bits laying around on the HD.

Yah I know but I like to run it on the real hardware and get a heads up if something doesn't play well with the upgrade. Plus I'm more inclined to actually use it that way. To each his own though, it comes down to what works for you.

Supposedly, Microsoft thinks everyone will upgrade to 8.1. Sure wish the new IE 11 could be tested on Win 8.

Microsoft officials are not saying when to expect the final version of IE11 for Windows 7 to be available. The final version of IE 11 for Windows 8.1 is on track to be released to manufacturing in August 2013, when 8.1 itself RTMs. And just in case anyone was wondering, Microsoft will not be making IE11 available to Windows 8 users because the company is assuming almost all of them will be updating to Windows 8.1.

i don't find IE11 any faster than 10,actually my ie10 on win8 is so slow i don't even use it ,i need to start booting to win8.1 on a regular bases just to try it out more !
