iTunes crashed this evening and I had to force shutdown by holding the button down. When I turned the computer back on when it got to the windows 8 page the page just keeps blinking and won't let me do anything. I cant access troubleshoot or anything as the windows 8 page just blinks on and off. Any ideas much appreciated!

Now can't get it to do anything, gone from fully functional computer to cant use it in space of an hour :(

hi, do you have the win8 install dvd ,if so you could use it to run the repair.

is this a new computer that came with win8 pre installed .'

you could try shift-f8 on boot up it will /might not work but does for me
i use a older computer with win8 and if i hold in the shift key and pound lightly on the f8 key it will bring me to the screen i use to choose what os i boot to it also give a option to change defaults or choose other options ,as i said it likely only works because i have a older computer ,but worth a try
image a little blurry i took it my phone,
if you get to the screen i got to ,follow the instruction in this link to get to advance options /automatic repair

Thank you for your advice. Yes it came pre installed and I don't have a disc. :( I will try what you suggest about shift and f8. I can't get it to boot and it comes to the password screen for me to put my password in but as soon as it goes through to the windows screen with all the boxes on the window just keeps flashing on and off and won't let me click on or access anything so frustrating was working perfectly yesterday and then one crash and foul shut down yesterday and this! I don't this it is a virus as I have norton and it has only happened since I had to do a forced shut down.

ok, that called the start screen and the boxes are icons ,,try hitting the windows key [that the one between the ctrl and alt keys left side of the keyboard ]to see if it will switch to the desktop

Ok I have got through to desktop and managed to backup my files. Computer still not working correctly, program's crashing shortly after opening and blue circle stays near cursor at all times. I have tried, repair, return to previous stage and having backed up files decided to try complete return to factory settings but whatever option I try it says there was a problem error code 80070490 and won't let me reset or refresh or even troubleshoot. The only option I get is to restart the computer. Anyway to force it to refresh or restart?

maybe this is what you tried already ,or open the charms bar on the right of the screen ,settings /change pc settings /general , scroll down to" remove everything and reinstall windows "
i think you could have a hardware issue .like Ram or your Harddrive

if this dosn't work then ,do option 2 in the link below '
