Can't boot Windows 8

I can't seem to boot my PC, yesterday the drivers failed and the I was left with a black screen. I restarted it by pressing the little button, it booted showed the splash screen and windows boot screen and then went to black screen.

I'm trying to boot the Advanced Options, I've tried F8, Shift+F8 and F11 but nothing. All F8 does is automatic repair every time! It gets to the restore or cancel screen and if I press either button it'll just freeze on the blue windows logo screen an do nothing (but the HDD light is static).

I haven't got the boot disc because its at my Dads and he's away at the moment. I do have a 13GB USB Drive if that helps, to somehow boot from?

Any help is needed ASAP please, I'm far behind in my work.

Thanks,

Joel

No system specs? These recommendations probably won't work but it sounds like a graphics issue when Windows start to load the graphics drivers. With that said, see if you have an onboard graphics option in your BIOS and set to use that. Also, set you monitor to default values and try that. Tough to troubleshoot without the specs.

No worries I found the disc! What would I need to do?

Stick it in & see what options it gives you, IMO.
Others may suggest something else...

Again, tough to advise a methodology without the system specs! You may have a home-built or it may be a store-bought. You may want to try and repair the current install or you may want to do a clean install.
Good luck.

I did a system restore, but I am still left with a black screen.

It's home built.
My specs are:

G7 Power Extreme 880W
Sabertooth Z77 Motherboard
ATI Radeon HD 8000 Series
2TB HDD

OK. Thanks for that. Now, are you willing to do a clean install with the understanding that all programs, data, and image files will be lost or do you need to try and repair this issue and save those programs, data and image files?

I need to save my program's and files as I have a lot of important files I need

EDIT: After doing a system restore I managed to get onto the desktop for 2 minutes an then the drivers crashed again and I'm back to the start.

OK, now that you have provided sufficient information you can expect others to chime in with their own specific recommendations; however, here is the first thing I would try. So, it appears that you do have onboard graphics capabilities and you can option your BIOS to switch from PCI-E to integrated. Unfortunately I can't tell you the exact options you would need to change but that move will require a move of the monitor cable to the onboard graphics port. As stated previously, I really think this is a graphics-related issue because of your screen going black coincident with windows loading. The other option would be to get to safe mode and see if you can delete the suspect graphics driver there. Reboot and see what happens.

If you can get to the Desktop again, use that time to quickly uninstall the graphics drivers in device manager and try and force it to a default VGA scheme; however, they may get reinstalled on next boot and it might work (if the driver install was only corrupted) or it could just reinstall the same driver with the same problem.

I managed to install the latest drivers and it seemed to work okay, but I had to turn it off and go out.

Will report later if its working okay! Thanks for your help

It seems to work okay for around 10 minutes, then crashes again! I can get onto the desktop by simply rebooting now. But the display drivers keep crashing every 10 - 15 minutes!

Switch to (exclusively) onboard graphics in BIOS (if you have that option) and move monitor cable to see if that fixes your issue.

I removed my graphics card completely, and its using onboard graphics which seems to be working far so far (its been about half hour now).

Another probler im having is file encryption. All my new files, or when i move files they encrypt! how can I stop this happening?

Glad my suggestion worked. However, I'm going to ask one of our file encryption experts to step in here and continue working with you because I have no experience (or exposure) in that area. Good luck.

Its okay, I managed to disable it in Regedit. But if I simply add my graphics card again should it work?

That's tough to say. It could be a hardware issue or still even a software issue. Maybe it could also be a heat-related or dirt issue. Is you PC dirty inside? If so, try cleaning it with a generally accepted method and see what happens. Good luck.

I removed all the drivers, shutdown my PC and connected up my graphics card but it doesn't show anything, whenever I connect up the graphics card and boot the computer I just get a black screen. It doesn't even show to boot screen. Nothing at all
