how can I categorize the My PC page?

I was resistant to switch from Windows 7 to 8 but decided to try 8.1 after DBANing my hard drive.

My first question is how can I categorize the My PC page like it was before?

I noticed 8.1 did not come with the Widgets feature which I assumed was because this is a preview. Can this be enabled or is there a program to emulate it?

I use ADB and Fastboot alot which initially had trouble installing the Android SDK Composite Interface Driver and Naked Driver 0.72 so I can issue commands to my device while it's in TWRP MultiRom recovery and sideloader mode. Now that I've got that fixed, I am wonder if there is a compatible updated ADB root file manager program for Windows?

Is there a way to enable Aero Blur in 8.1?

What do you mean by "categorize?" It looks more or less the same to me.

My Computer

System One

  • OS
    Windows 8.1 Pro
    CPU
    Intel i7 3770K
    Motherboard
    Gigabyte Z77X-UD4 TH
    Memory
    16GB DDR3 1600
    Graphics Card(s)
    nVidia GTX 650
    Sound Card
    Onboard Audio
    Monitor(s) Displays
    Auria 27" IPS + 2x Samsung 23"
    Screen Resolution
    2560x1440 + 2x 2048x1152
    Hard Drives
    Corsair m4 256GB, 2 WD 2TB drives
    Case
    Antec SOLO II
    Keyboard
    Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000
    Mouse
    Logitech MX
Mine has that. Not sure why yours doesn't. Have you tried using the various right click view options? Or opening the Ribbon and using those view options?

EDIT:

Oh, I just realized you said 8.1, sorry. I'm on 8 and it looks just like what you want. Don't know about 8.1.

How the heck did you get it to only show Devices and Drives anyways? It should also show Network Locations and Folders as well. Like this:

I have and there is no option for it.

I edited the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\ registry key

Your screen shot is exactly what mine shows in 8.1. I'd suggest he simply hit the arrow left of Folders or Networks locations and collapse the group to simplify the page view and then the full page is available again on demand.
