Acoustica MP3 CD Maker not compatible

I tried submitting a ticket on Microsoft's support site - was unsuccessful, clicking Submit would do nothing.

I've had Acousticamp3 CD maker for several years on Windows XP and Vista. I can't use it withWindows 8 - when selecting music files from the left Library pane and draggingthem to the right Playlist pane they do not appear. However - placing thecursor in the area of a file, right clicking and selecting Play will in factplay the song, and upon exiting I'm prompted if I'd like to save the list.Acoustica acknowledges the defect but isn't planning to implement a fix sincethey consider the program 'old' and believe it's not that competitive sincethere's so many others out there, many free.

I have found none, free or not, that have the same features such crossfading to CDs and to mp3players by means of file rendering - a long file containing many songscrossfaded into segues. I saw something similar from Sony, but it was around $90 and probably included video and other featuresI don't need. I could not insert a screenshot for a betterexample. I've attached a file of the screenshot showing Play is available since files exist in the Playlist pane, they just can't be seen. Here is the download:

http://www.acoustica.com/mp3-cd-burner/download.htm

I tried variouscompatibility modes, color/screen resolution with no luck. I wonder if there'sany setting or something that could be even temporarily set so the text could simply be displayed in the Playlist pane.

You're probably right. I was just hoping for the slight chance of a workaround of some kind.

Who knows? Maybe someone has found a workaround so keep this thread open and see what happens.
Good luck to you.

Thanks - For now I've been using iTunes for CDs, but it's not designed to recognize my Sansa MP3 player. The Windows Media Player that comes with 8 will sync a playlist in order to the Sansa if I set the Sansa USB mode a certain way, but when making an mp3 CD there's no playlist order, the songs are played alphabetically, where iTunes will number the tracks 01- 02 - etc... Crossfading is available in iTunes on playback, but not when making a CD. Fortunately my Vista pc still works (not the CD drive) so I can still use Acoustica on that. If I had any idea that Windows 8 was like I would have tried to get my old laptop repaired and upgraded with more memory.

Can you use iTunes to create an ISO image, then then burn that?

Also, have you tried running Acoustica in Compatibility mode? I run a bunch of programs that are not supposed to be 8 Compatible but I just tell them it's Windows 7.

I have the same problem with VLC, I used to be able, in Windows 7, to just drag items into the player or playlist and they'd get added. But under 8 it does nto work like that, so maybe the problem is similar. I'd have to see a version of Acoustica to try to fool with the compatibility options, is there a freeware version of it?

Recently lost my Windows 8 on my main PC, had to go back to Windows 7.
It seems to be adding songs to the list, just not showing them. OK, it made my disk, and is burning it. So, it works, it just doesn't show you the list of songs added to the project,

Yep, it worked. Great Program, I think I'll get it. If ya want proof, here it is: The CD text got written too, each song is named as it should.

BTW, the compatibility settings came up for Windows XP sp3

I did try compatibility mode different ways with no luck. I didn't go as far as you did making a CD - so like you said everything functions except for seeing the text in the playlist. You'd realize the true advantages of the program if you could see the playlist where you can then edit songs by removing silence at the end and crossfading. I'll save that into several hour or so long mp3 files which makes for very enjoyable listening. I take it you still couldn't see the playlist after using compatibility mode. When I tried it also came up the same Windows XP version.

I have not tried iTunes with the ISO option - I'll give that a try.

Nope.. but it worked. Look, I use Sound Forge 9 to edit my MP3s and other music files, because a Disk Burning program has no Business offering that. By Default all CD burning proggies add that 2 seconds of silence at the start of each song. So use an outside program to strip excess poopola from the files, I never add Xfading either, cos that really screws up a music disk. I had a Run DMC CD that was all X-Faded, the last note of the song was the first note of the next song etc. Look, you are just making CDs you really don't NEED all that extra bilge. I added my Playlist and it made me a fine CD and it wrote the CD Text in just fine.

Ok I see what you mean, there are a few necessary things that you can't do., like change the order of songs. But you can get around that by numbering the songs in the file names or titles. Or,m you can change the position of the songs using "Edit Tag Properties" - Before you send the list over, set the tags so that the songs are properly ordered. Or, you can send them over one by one.

I don't know if I like what this program does - It is refusing to read the Tags I have already SET, and I've already set the order of songs when I made the MP3s. But when I drag the lot over, it always sends them in the wrong order. It shows them alphabetically, not numerically. I just went through the whole program and there are no settings for the Library to tell it to show in Numeric order.

I have a maybe 50,000 songs in there, all arranged by original track number. iTunes can read these values, and so can VLC, but this program flagrantly ignores the tags I meticulously set. I suppose I would have to rip CDs using THIS program to get this program to show the songs in the proper order.

Maybe they will make an update for it that's wholly compatible with 8. I set the compatibility mode all the way down to Windows 95.
