Windows stuck on blue icon loop.

Here's a quick summary of what I think caused this issue. I was using the computer, when the power went out for like half a second, the computer ended up restarting, and while starting up, the power went out. When the power came back, I wasn't able to get past the Blue window's icon with a swirly loop on the bottom.

I've created a repair install thing and placed it on a flashdrive, and I've booted from it and tried to do system restore. After around 4-5 hours, a blue screen pops up and said something about window's encountering an error. (Too fast to catch what else it may of said)

What can I do to make my computer work again? Should I try to do another system restore. Also how long does it take to boot from the flashdrive? It takes me around 1 hour. Is it supposed to take so long?

Looks like your boot files may be corrupt. If you have the install disc, you could boot off of it and go to advanced options, and then to automatic repair to see if it can fix the problem.

As for the flash drive thing, I've never used that before but I don't think it should take that long.

Well, update on this.

I managed to repair windows with the window's repair thing. Now when it starts up, it gets a "memory_management" error and shutsdown, after doing this twice, it goes back to using AUtomatic Repair for another 2 hours. Anyways to skip automatic repair?

And what causes a memory_management error?

Your Hard Drive may have developed errors, which the auto repair can't fix. Download Hiren's Boot CD from the link below, boot to that, go into Dos Programs, and find Hard Drive Tools, Use GWscan, which is on the 3rd page. If it detects your drive you can run a SMART scan and a Quick scan, the quick scan will tell you if you have Read Element Failure, if it does, run the full scan. Sometimes "Memory" in Window 8 means the hard drive, which if corrupt, can't read Pagefile.sys and swapfile.sys.

Right now I am running the sfc /scannow thing.
Is that a good thing to do at the moment, also how long does it usually take?
I'll try what you just listed if this doesn't end up working.

I thought a memory management error was RAM related? Are you sure you don't have any bad sticks of memory?

It means your System Drive can't be read. Which goes along with my original assessment, you had errors on your system disk. You can either use Hiren's or you can download WDdiag or GWscan by googling them. Ya gotta make a boot disk, they tell you how on the sites, or they have an ISO image you can burn. Windows 8 cannot fix what GWscan calls "Read Element Failure" - SO ya gotta do it outside of Windows 8. I usually just say download Hiren's boot CD from my link, but that's my own suggestion, not the Boards. But it is the only way you can fix this stuff without a whole lot of googling and/or removing your drive and scanning it on another PC.
