Solved Metro Right Click Menu issues

Hi,

I recently installed Windows 8 Pro, and set my account type to Local. After a few days, I changed the type to a Microsoft account. After doing this, I noticed that whenever I right-click on an icon in the Metro interface, the icons of the context menu do not come up. I've attached a screenshot which displays the weirdly-shaped 'wannabe' icons I get.

Any idea what could be causing the issue, and how I can resolve the same? Thank you in advance!

This is usually caused by running something like CCleaner or similar tools that delete the correct font. I don't recall which font it is, but you need to replace it. I think it may also be caused by installing a program that overwrites the font. Search the forums, there are many other posts about this.

Thank you so much, Mystere! I looked around a bit and found the solution. Here it is:

The font is Segoe UI Symbol, and the font version that is shipped with Windows 8 is v5.90. Sometimes, third party apps overwrite the font with an older version, and this causes the problem. To users who might face this problem in the future, here's a quick fix:

1. Go to the C:\windows\winsxs folder of your computer.
2. In the search box, type "segui*.ttf". You'll get about 5 TTF files in the result.
3. Right-click on the TTF files, and choose 'Install'. When prompted to over-write existing fonts, hit Yes.
4. Restart.
