Solved Win-key + PrintScreen... Broken?

Although it appears to work (screen dims briefly), there's no sign of any screenshot in Libraries, or indeed anywhere else.

Is it broken, or is it just me?

Doing it the 'old' way via MS Paint still works.

Windows 8 or 8.1 ?

I'm assuming you mean on 8.1. It's possible it's broken, this is a preview. As I said earlier, you have to expect problems in previews. If it was perfect, it would be released.

It was a simple question, nothing more.

And, as I've been beta-testing for years, I'm more than aware that it's a preview.

All I wanted to know was if it was an issue with 8.1 or with my setup.

That's all. It wasn't a criticism.

Hello Wenda,

The :winkey: + PrtScn screenshots are still working for me in Windows 8.1 Preview, but it doesn't dim when the screenshot is captured for me.

For laptops and notebooks, you may need to press either the Windows+Ctrl+PrtScn or Windows+Fn+PrtScn keys instead.
By default, it still saves the .png screenshots in the C:\Users\(user-name)\Pictures\Screenshots folder unless you changed it's location.Hope this may help some.

I just did it in a VM of 8.1 and here it is.

Sorted now.

It was one of the settings in Taskbar>Properties>Navigation.

If 'Always Show Start on my Main Display...' is enabled, Win-key + Prt-Scrn won't work.

Disable that, and Win-key + Prt-Scrn works again.

We live and learn, and it's always the small things that one tends to overlook.

In 8.1 it may be capturing the skreen, but it may not be saving it auto as a PNG file or whatever it gets saved as. Check and see if you can paste it into Pain after hitting Win+Prscrn

Odd. Mine still works even with that option checked, but glad to hear you got it sorted. :huh:

So, she's sayin that with the "Start Menu" shut off, it works? Sheesh. :/ :\ :/ :\

Windows+Fn+PrtScn worked for me. Thank you.

One Way To Have A Screen Shot is to use the built in "Snipping Tool"
