    Snip of a Metro screen

Who has done a snip of a Metro Screen - please tell how. I had to use an awkward method to get the pic in post #5 of this thread Changing color of tiles in the start menu

    Do you have multiple monitors?

The easiest way I found is using FastStone Capture.
When the Metro screen is on the primary monitor, I have to initiate the selection on the secondary monitor. Metro Screen disappears for a moment but pops right back up as I continue my selection.
When the Metro Screen is on the secondary monitor, I can just do a simple snip.

Naturally, one can always do a full screen capture and edit later.

Mike, thanks, but that is cheating - at least for a poor guy like me who has only 1 Monitor and no room on the desk to install a second one. LOL

And full Screen capture does not work on my system - never did. See, I am really underprivied,

Don't forget that you can still use PrtScn and then paste the resulting captured image into Paint (or some other graphical editing program) for processing.

Would be nice (see above). Must have something to do with my special German keyboard.

In fact, I did, initially, until I read the tutorial and realized it had nothing to say about capturing a Metro Screen (the topic of this thread), then I deleted the reference in my earlier post.

Perhaps the tutorial can be amended if such is possible in the manner presented in the tutorial?

I don't know then. Only way I can manage natively taken screenshots of Metro desktop on a physical machine with only one monitor is with the snipping tool or with the Problem Steps Recorder. But it's tricky to do it with the snipping tool.

Sure it's easier with more than one monitor, or taking the shots of Win 8 inside a VM, but I'm not doing that.

Could you not use this below from the tutorial above to take a screenshot of the Metro screen, then paste it in Paint afterwards?

    1. To Take a Screenshot of the Entire Display Screen
NOTE: If you have multiple monitors, then they will also be included in the full screen screenshot. This option will also include context menus in the screenshot. You could use this option to take a screenshot of a Metro screen.

    A) Press the PrtScn key for a desktop computer.
NOTE: On laptops or notebooks, you may need to press either the Ctrl+PrtScn or Fn+PrtScn key instead of only the PrtScn key.
