Hi, jazneo, Welcome to the Eight Forums! :)

What you fail to understand, considering you presented it on your first post here, leads me to believe you actually think there is a similarity between Win 3.1 and the Win8 Metro Start Menu.

Either that, or you are merely attempting to stir the pot with irrelevant comparisons.

OK, Win 1.0.

Either way, I think you are being disengenuous.

Just my opinion, mind you.

Hey, if you like Win7, stick with it. Many people are still on XP.

Go for it. As for me, I embrace the changes wholheartedly.
Certainly, I report back with any issues and inconveniences I see but I like this direction.
Next on my list will be ditching my iPhone and getting a Win8 phone when it's available.

Indeed. What's wrong with that?
Are you still stuck in the Win 1.0 days?

If you weren't, jazneo, you would understand this is entirely different.

Remember, jazneo, this is a pre-beta.

window xp good
window vista bad

No, jazneo that is your "patter," whatever that means.
window 8 just got greedy and little feature
LOL! You do have an agenda and it ain't about helping anyone here, jazneo.

It ain't the same, jazneo, no matter how much you want it to be so.

Quote from your latter link:
Inspired by the Metro UI, Windows Phone 7, Windows 8 user interface. The project is not using, even partially, any code from Windows Phone 7. The graphics were created from scratch to resemble the ones of Windows Phone 7.

Really, what's your agenda, jazneo?

I have been using Windows 8 for a day now. Still a bit shaken by it. I REALLY like my Windows 7 and as the poster earlier said, I may just stick with it as I don't see myself buying a touch screen anytime soon, and I already have a ASUS Transformer tablet and phone running Android and like them. I will withhold judgement for now and play with it a bit longer, but is is a jarring change. And remeber Kids --- Don't Jar.

I used 1.0 and I can state with 110% certainty that WDP isn't remotely similar. Although I think they could take a cue from 1.0 and add a static clock to Metro. The pop up is nice but I don't want to hover over every time I want to see what time it is.

If your doing this from the ironic humor point of view it's understood, If it's simply an attempt to troll I think the comparison is unfounded save the gaudy colors. LOL.

Besides I'm sure that coders are already typing till their fingers bleed coming up with a compatible version of windows blinds to make it look "worse yet customizable" and bog down the system in the process.

That way you can have your favorite Anime character tiles, with hideous black, chrome, alien, and military themes. :)

I'm still amazed at how much some computer users want the OS to stay where it is.
I love the changes and look forward to the next. We've come a long way from Dos.
Win 8 recognized all my hardware with no issues, for an alpha release this is amazing.
And hey I liked Vista, had no problems with it.

I have to agree with the original poster.... I hope the final version of Win8 is nothing like this. Does Microsoft really expect consumers to accept a tablet pc operating system on their desktop or laptop? I don't want an OS that is designed to be used as a tablet OS, with limited desktop functionality included as a bonus.

If I wanted a tablet PC I would buy one.

I guess at some point users will have no choice but to use Win8 as everything else gets phased out. Loved Win7, but I question Microsoft's thinking by going this route.

Guys, its an early alpha release! A lot can and will change before RTM. It wouldn't surprise me to see an option to enable or disable the metro UI if you aren't using a touch interface. It may even do it on its own based on what hardware is detected during the install. I for one hope so as I wouldn't be in a big hurry to use the Windows 8 Metro UI on anything other than a tablet.

I hear you..... My first thought about Win8 is a resounding "WTF is this?!?!?!?!". But I also understand that what we see now may not even remotely resemble the final release. As it stands now I'm not the least bit impressed, but I fully expect that to change.
