Solved Microsoft Reader doesn't list printer - HELP

Greetings all:

When trying to print from Devices "charm" in Microsoft Reader, my default printer is not shown. It shows up in Printers on the desktop. Reader does show, however, a fax version of my printer, which is NOT installed. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the printer....no change.

I'm using a HP Officejet 7310 printer, which has the most current driver, and works in all other Windows apps.

I love Windows 8......

George

Hmmm... interesting.

Can you go into PC Settings, under Devices, to check to make sure the printer shows up?

Thanks for the reply. When I go in through Devices and Printers, it does show up...and as the default printer. Should I uninstall and reinstall Reader?

CLINT-

I'm not sure where you want me to right click. It does nothing in Reader. I don't have a problem printing in any other apps that generate a "Print" window.

Neither of my installed printers show as default, in the Reader charms bar. But when I click "more", at the bottom of the list of printers, they show instantly. No problem, but surely a bug.

Thanks Dave....unfortunately I don't have "more" at the bottom of my list.

I get the bar at the bottom of the screen, but there is no Print button. I can set display properties, and if I hit the "More" button I can rotate and close.

have you made sure that you updated to the newest version of the Reader app? even if you own a new PC, it still shipped with the original versions of the apps that Windows 8 initially shipped with.

yeah, I have no idea why you can't see your printer. it should be there. Is this a printer driver that came with Windows 8 or a printer driver from the printer manufacturer? I think I may have seen this problem with the Microsoft printer driver on my dad's system before I started downloading drivers as they were released.

Dirty-

I'll try an update....would that be through Windows Update or ?????? I'm using the HP driver, and Properties shows it's the latest and won't even check for an updated driver.

The printer works with every other app....comes up with Ctrl P (not in Reader), and otherwise does what it's supposed to do. The problem is I work with PDFs daily....

Side Note: I installed Bullzip PDF creator a few days ago, and IT shows up on Reader's printer list....
I can right click any file (except PDF) in any folder and get a print command....not with PDF's

Thanks!
George

Thank you all for trying to get me up and running. I have solved my problem by uninstalling Microsoft Reader and installing Adobe Reader XI as my default.

It's nice to work with PDF's again in a fully functioned program that PRINTS!

Thanks again...I appreciate the time you all spent trying to figure this out!
