a friend of mine had a dual boot of windows 7&8 then, he tried to remove windows 8( it's partition was active but windows 7 wasn't active), he first deleted win8 from msconfig then tried to delete the partition of windows 8( but Disk management didnt allow him neither easeus partition manager did, so he tried to keep windows 7 partition as active using easeus manager, then after completing the action, the PC failed to start, he tried automatic repair, but that bore no fruit... the PC says " Couldn't find any operating system, press ctrl+alt+del to restart...

edit: my idiotic friend after removing windows 8 from msconfig, upgraded win7 to win8( i kicked him ... :p ) i suspect that MBR software has been corrupted... but i have no idea on how to help him... so is there anway to make his PC , boot again and remove the windows 8's( previously clean installed) partition

So - Windows 8 has been removed, Win 7 is still there? Unfortunate.

You MAY be able to load Windows 7 by using and old version of Hiren's Boot CD, version 13 or under. It has an option for Booting Windows 7 or XP when the Boot Sector and MBR have been compromised. Thing is, I don't know from where you can download Hiren's 13- So you can Google it, and try to find the IOS image to download.

You could also try to "repair" the OS using the Win 7 Install Disk - See if it detects your OS - If it doesn't - You will have to save any personal files from the drive, and do a fresh install.

See, the problem is, Windows 7 and Windows 8 use very different OS choosers. Windows 7 uses Boot.INI, 8 Uses something else, maybe it is Boot.INI hidden somewhere. But Windows 8 takes over the entire OS choices menu.

Windows 7 should have been chosen as the Default OS FIRST - You can do this using Windows 8 Manager by yamicsoft:

You tell it "Windows 7 is the default OS" - Then you BOOT to Win 7, from THERE you can remove all vestiges of 8.

Try the "Boot to Windows XP/Vista/7" option on Hiren's Boot CD, this has been removed from versions later than 13. If you can do that, you can use Partition Wizard Home edition to "Fix your MBR" - And from there, you reboot, and you load the Windows 7 Install disk and "Repair Startup"

Recently lost my Windows 8 on my main PC, had to go back to Windows 7.
If you are unable to find or make a Hirens boot cd. Windows 7 install dvd should repair your boot...

Start your computer from the windows 7 dvd, and select repair when prompted. Do not upgrade, nor reinstall..

I had a dislike for 8 at first, until I stopped looking for the start button, once you break that habit its very smooooth...

And forget the metro section beyond the first 20 tiles, its messy.. And get a decent mouse! Its all about the mouse!

there is no win7 right now because it's been upgraded to win8, and all the mindless stuff was done in windows 8... so you sure windows 7's DVD repair option would help??
