Hi JayJayC and welcome to Eightforums,

From your post I understand that you live in Europe. Well, as with almost every product that is being sold in Europe as well as in the USA the prices in Europe are far far far higher (>25% to be exact). In almost all cases the only thing you have to do is to change the $ sign for a € sign and you have the price in Europe. Which is, due to the currency change ratio's, approximately 25% higher.

Don't ask me why this is the way it is. I guess it has something to do with on of these options ==>
A) The USA manufacturers like to screw Europe
B) USA export taxes
C) Europe import taxes
D) Nelie Kroes (member of the EU parliament)

Since you live in Europe it is not possible to buy the product 'like you were in the USA'. So just get used to being screwed....

Like SunTzu said ==> "If you can't beat them, join them".

ps. Why didn't you buy an upgrade copy in the period october 2012-january 2013? It was only $30 of €30 (= $40) then. That's how I got my copy :).

Yeah i didnt know about the $30 offer in that period, this is actually the first time i have looked at getting windows 8 :(
And also i would understand the extra cost in europe if i was buying the disc version of windows 8 because of the import taxes but the fact that i am downloading the software straight from microsoft i dont feel like their should be extra for tax on it, but i live in ireland so i suppose i should be use to being screwed by now :p Just wondering is it actually worth paying that to go from windows 7 ultimate to windows 8?

Too bad you didn't know about the €30 offer.

The question weather or not it is worth paying to upgrade from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 8 Pro is a tricky one. I myself love Windows 8. For no money in the world I would go back to Windows 7. Win 8 is just so intuitive and fast.

But to pay €120 for an upgrade.... I guess it all comes down to the question ==> when are you planning to buy a new computer?

If you are planning to buy a new pc within the next year I wouldn't upgrade now because you will buy Windows 8 with your new pc. If however your pc is still very good and you expect to use is for another 2 or 3 years, then yes. In that case I think it would be worthwhile to upgrade to Windows 8.

I hope this is helpfull.

Goodluck with it.
