    Upgrading from W8 to W8.1

I feel sure some of us will probably want to install W 8.1 when it is officially released. I know I will if it can be treated as a service pack and used to update from W8 to W8.1 and not require a complete reinstall, registration and customization of things such as Office 2010 and Quicken. If it does require a reinstall, no thanks.

Is there any word on this?

    Thank you.

Good question....not sure. Hopefully we'll know soon on how this works.

Knowing Microsoft .. it will seem odd. Maybe they will give us a win8upgrade.wim and we'll loose all our installed programs, like it or not.

I'm 99.999 percent sure this will be treated like a service pack/patch and not require any OS/Programs reinstall.

After Googling a bit I found this:

Microsoft will make available to anyone who has Windows 8 a preview of Windows Blue in June.

That's according to Julie Larson-Green, the head of Windows engineering, who made those remarks during the Wired Business Conference on May 7.

As many expected and hoped, Microsoft is going to make the coming Windows Blue update to Windows 8 free for existing Windows 8 and Windows RT users.

Microsoft's Windows Chief Financial Officer Tami Reller, during an appearance at the May 14 JP Morgan Technology, Media & Telecom Conference, shared the pricing news.

Yeah, that's already been discussed over in the "Windows 8 News" Forum so it's old news (to some).

Microsoft confirms Blue free for existing Windows 8 users
