Problems after sleep mode

I bought a new computer a few months ago and after some heavy piledriving work going on under our building I lost everything and had to re load win 8 afresh Since then after coming out of "Sleep Mode" the desktop icons are missing and no contact with the internet and I cannot get any either (Contact with the net that is) I have to reboot. Any thoughts

Control Panel / Troubleshooting / Power Run that fixit and probably after that is all said and done & doesn't work, you might as well delete the windows and boot partitions and reinstall windows into the unallocated space and start afresh again.
