i have my D and E (non OS drives) encrypted with bitlocker in windows 7.it uses password to unlock drives.OS is in C drive.now i am going to install windows 8.
I am gonna do a clean installation means completely formatting C drive. the data i am worried about is in encrypted D and E drives by bitlocker.so do i have to decrypt the D and E drives first.im worried cuz bitlocker is a program of windows 7 and when i format C drive means windows 7 gone means windows 7 had the bitlocker program which encrypted the D and E drives and now its windows 8 installed in C drive .so how would windows 8 respond or know what my password was when it was created in windows 7

P.S I dont wanna decrypt drives because it takes hell of a time but i also dont wannna risk losing my data...!!!

Thanks for quick reply bro
I know the passwords for both drives but i dont remember where i saved recovery keys.so after installation it might ask for recovery key instead of password and i wont have that..so i think i ll have to decrypt the drives first.
Now what do you think

Decrypting the drives would certainly be the safest and most reliable route, then just decrypt them again after Windows 8 is installed. To bad it would take forever to do so though.

You could use the method in the tutorial below to backup your BitLocker Recovery Key for each encrypted drive to say a USB flash drive to have available to recover them with if needed in Windows 8.

Personally, I would recommend to just decrypt them. Best to be safe than sorry later.
