Now this is what I like to see - Kids at a young age that are savvy enough to find this joint and ask the right questions.

Welcome to our flop, HP Desktop. If you do not have an Install Disk that came with the system, you may be able to order one or download one from HP, you'll have to call them, they are pretty decent on the phone, at least the last time I ever called them, they were helpful. You will need the exact version of Windows 8 that was in the system.

The f-11 Key restore funtion on an HP is only valid WITH the restore disks you have made - The reason why it is blue is because it is looking for those files that are supposed to be on the first disk.

Now, you may be able to recover without it, if you have a Hiren's Boot Disk, google it - Whenever this kind of stuff happens to me I always do a full media scan on the hard drive to make sure it has not developed bad spots - These are always repairable.

Once you check the drive using something that can do the whole surface, then you wanna use something like the Mini XP which is on Hiren's - There is a simple CHKDSK on it you can use to scan for file system errors. Once you do that and say it found errors, it will fix them and then you can try to boot again, Windows 8 Automatic Repair should run it's cycle then - Dont ever interrupt a Windows 8 repair cycle, it can really damage your drive. Let it finish.

If that does not fix it, you will absolutely need the Windows 8 Install disk, put that in and boot from it, run the Automatic Repair from There- It's buried deep ion the Adbanced Options, just keep looking until you find the option which looks like it will repair the system - Avoid Refresh but you can use System Restore if it can find any restore points.

I'll check the HP site and see if they have a way to get you the actual install disk.

OK I saw areas in there where you can talk to a "recovery expert" - You may be able to get an install disk from them, just tell them you need the Windows 8 disk that was supposed to come with your system.
