Question about My Pictures (live tile) on Start Menu?

Ok, maybe I’m missing something but accessing the pictures (live pictures tile) folder from the start menu shows my photo’s but not in the order I’d like them to be in. As such, to my horror I’ve found I can’t move them around (re-arrange them).

I can obviously re-arrange them if I access the “My Pictures” folder through explorer, in fact they’re actually arranged differently than what is displayed accessing it through the Windows Start Screen.

Anyway is it possible to arrange them there because trying to manually move them around proves fruitless.

Also, how do you take a snip of the stat screen using the snip tool? God Win 8 can be annoying at times.

There is a big fat tile named "Photos" - It does not seem to connect to the Library. Oh yes, it does, it takes a while to populate.

It would seem that the tiles in the app cannot be moved at all. I don't know about the snip tool, but someone here should know that.

Hello Drew,

You could turn off shuffling of the images on the "Photos" app tile, that may have them display in alphabetical order from the Pictures library instead. This will be from inside the Photos app, and open the Charms bar -> Settings charm -> Options.

You could use the Screenshot capture feature below to take screenshots of your Start screen.

In addition, you could still use the normal Alt + Print Screen keys to take a screenshot of it, and use Paint to edit and save it.

Its a huge pain and youre not alone. I have grown to have the metro photo viewer. It's as if there are two alternate versions of Windows. The cool, yet clunky Windows 8 Metro that doesn't have many options.

And the old, boring, yet customizable old school windows on the old desktop.

I really hope that the update for W8 helps fix this stuff. After a week and a half of using W8 I can't say enough how disappointed in W8. The photo viewer, IE10, even the SkyDrive app look good but are poorly put together.

Doesn't work. All it does is turn off the shuffling of the "live" tile images. Once you enter the "Picture Library" from there, the image are still arranged how they are, and you can't re-arrange them (at least I can't figure it). Anyway here's an example of what I'm talking about...

From within the tile (pictures library (can't rearrange from here)...

From within Windows Explorer ( can re-arrange anyway I want)...

It probably wouldn't be so bad if they arranged themselves like in Explorer, but as you can see, that doesn't happen

Any suggestions. Would really like to use it as a preview when showing them on the lappy.

Ive tried to find a solution myself but doesn't appear to be a option. I am guessing in the next Windows 8 update that it will be added.

I hope so. This is the stupidest thing I've seen yet. And you'd figure the option to turn off shuffling like the suggestion Brink showed would allow manually re-arranging, but nooooooooo (or at least I hadn't found it).

Anyway I can always use Adobe Bridge, but it would be nice to use the Picture Library since all the files are there. Just a quick click on a folder, and there are your images. Unfortunately the library doesn't allow the images be re-arranged like in Adobe Bridge.

On the flip side, Adobe bridge seems to be a bit heavy on resources and battery life. That's the down side.

Yeah, there's not an option to arrange them at all in the Photos app like how you can somewhat arrange items into groups on the Start screen.

Yep - After I enabled "Shuffle" - it GNDN" - "Goes Nowhere, Does Nothing". Maybe you have to restart the app?

NOPE! The "Shuffle" thing only causes all of the images to randomly move around when you hit the "play" button" , you cannot arrange them manually at all.

The shuffle thing only applies to the live tile - that is, it only shuffles the images displayed in the live tile; not the library itself.

I guess Microsoft figures you don't want any type of order to the way the images are shown there. You would at least figure it displays the way it is in explorer, but noooooooo
