Windows 8 Issue

I recently purchased a Windows 8 machine (Lenovo Ideacentre q190). The previous version q180 supported installing XP, but the most recent version does not. Before I go and install Windows 7 I want to make sure of a few things.

I understand from reading that I am entitled to downgrade my Windows 8 installation to Windows 7 but I would be left with Windows 7 Home. I previously have connected all of my machines to the domain (ultimately to limit shared folder access) so I guess my question would be..... If I have Windows 7 Home and share a folder, can I limit access on that folder to only certain users from a domain?

On a side note....If I were to purchase a copy of Windows 7 Professional, would there be any issues just installing it over my current installation of Windows 8?

The last option you mentioned, in my opinion, would be the best course of action. I think your right with the limitations of 7 Home vs. 7 Pro with regards to your share/domain folders access question.

Just curious, what do you find about 8 that would make you want to downgrade to 7? Instead of downgrading, you go make your 8 machine work/function like 7 with some Stardock products...eg start8 and Mordernmix. They're only $4.99 each and well worth it...as a bouns of doing this you keep the speed and features of 8 but with a 7 feel. I have them on my desktop and they work great. There are some free versions of start8...one is called classic shell, which I have also used...works as advertised.

It is Windows 8 Core and not Pro. So I would have to purchase a version of Windows 7 Professional to install?
