Click "more" at the bottom of the Metro control panel

Hmm, I must have a "Discount edition". There is no "More".

Converely you might want to activate the "desktop" toolbar - its an item there!

Or you could open up the regular CP, and right click it on the taskbar to pin it there!

Thanks Aaron. I think I have 5 ways to get at it now. I like the "Desktop" toolbar best.

    There are various workarounds.

But you shouldn't need to do workarounds.

Whichever way you look at it, navigating around is much more awkward , in fact infuriating.

I fear this is a massive dumbing down operation.

Another workaround is to install a Start menu replacement , like Classic Menu, or start menu 7.

Or put an explorer replacement on the desktop, like explorer++.

Ridiculous to have to do that.

Yes, this is pretty bad - besides the lack of ease to the control panel, there is a lack of a way to get to the accessories menu. In fact, because there is no traditional start menu at all navigation is near impossible. When you install some additional programs (FF or Tbird work) - they do show up on the extreme right of the Metro comic bar - but a link to system utilities would be nice. You can get to disk cleaner and a new improved disk defrag program though rright click to properties on the Local Disk However this is a pre-alpah so things will certainly change - hopefully for the better BTW I have not found any AV program that is compatible with Windows 8 (not even ClamAV for Windows which works for free on MS servers). I suspect that other links on this forum (or Cnet) point to a blog that indicates that MS will release its own AV program as part of Windows Defender. So the incompatibility may on purpose. Even Windows Security Essentials won't install although if anybody is interested Windows Live 2011 does install.

You can shuffle the Apps &Programs wherever you want in the Metro UI, I have brought my most used Apps and programs to the left side of the screen. Microsoft Security Essentials work fine and I believe it's sufficient.

I just hit Win+E to launch Windows Explorer, click the first arrow on the locationbar, and choose Control Panel from there.

Why is it that the last time I went to the control panel to uninstall a program it was no longer listed, And a lot of my programs weren't listed. Why is this ? it makes it impossible to uninstall most of my programs that I no longer want. I hate Windows 8.

Product key in control panel?
I was looking around in the control panel and I found the system section. It had a part in it that showed my product key. Is this my actual product key for reinstalling or is it an identifier? I do like it that I can find it on OEM PCs but I don't want people looking through my control panel for it.

Suddenly, when I try to access the control panel, all that happens is the control panel icon shows on the task bar but I can not open it. Nothing happens when I click on it. I've rebooted several times with no change.

Control Panel
I'm reading this book and it shows me what the control panel looks like in Windows 8 but I sure can't get to it. My control panel looks just like the one in Windows 7?
