    You can make a short cut for each app (or whatever) in the Windows Accessories folder you might want to access from the desktop. Put the shortcuts on the desktop--in a "Windows Accessories" folder. Then right click on task bar and create a toolbar that will allow you to access what you want--pretty much like you used to do using the start menu in your prior version of Windows (don't need a start menu under this approach). You can make toolbars like this for any shortcuts you want to use and for whatever your purpose. You can move the Windows Accessories folder elsewhere to get it off the desktop if you want.

    Thanks. I also use Start8 with Modern Mix
    Same here. Modern Mix is great with the exception of trackpad scrolling in some apps.
