SvcRestartTask

I have Windows 8 X64. I am experiencing a problem I need help with.
When I open Task Scheduler I receive a message “Task SvcRestartTask: The task XML contains an unexpected node”.
When I look in the Event Viewer I see hundreds of messages like the one below.
Source: Microsoft-Windows-Security-SPP
Event ID: 16385
Failed to schedule Software Protection service for re-start at 2113-03-03T12:35:05Z. Error Code: 0x80041316.

I have tried all the suggestions I have found on Microsoft but I am unable to resolve this problem. The last time this happened I ended up re-installing Windows 8 – a painful and time consuming experience.

I have made no changes to Task Scheduler. I cannot determine what triggers this event but would like a way to fix the problem without having to rebuild my PC.

Any ideas?

I am experiencing the same issues and have tried the fixes found on Microsoft support. Event log is solid Security-SPP errors.

No one seems to have a good solution to this problem. I am probably going to have re-install the OS again. I don't understand a) what's causing the problem so I can avoid doing whatever and b) the consequences of doing nothing and just letting the event log build up. All the other tasks in scheduler seem to work OK. I've done nothing unusual to the machine except install Office and a few other things. I just can't figure it out and apparently neither can Microsoft. They generate these stupid error codes but no one has the manual to debug the error. Some programmer put an error message in the OS and no one bothered to document it. I suppose I could pay support and they would come to the same conclusion - gotta rebuild your machine. Sorry - just a brief meltdown. I'll go take another walk around the block.

Not sure if you're still having this problem, but I've just had the same thing. The services that are mentioned above were all running, but the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Locator service was NOT. I started it, problem solved... hope that helps you out.
