Solved Automatic %PATH% change desired

Before you jump in, I know how to use the path command. That's not the problem. This is, or used to be, a really simple thing to do. I want to add a new directory to the default path searched for executables, and have that done automatically every time I start my 'puter. Back when AUTOEXEC.BAT was not just a placeholder, I would add the path command there. Is there somewhere equivalent to this using the registry? Thanks for your response. :thumb:

Win+X->Control Panel->User Accounts



An alternate way is if you are comfortable with Registry Editor then go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment
and change the value of the Path

Why do you want to do this every time you start your computer instead of making a permanent change to the PATH environment variable?

Yes, the path is always there unless you remove it, or am I not understanding your question?

What I mean is, turn it on.
Change the PATH environment variable via Computer Properties / Advanced.
Done, never needs to be changed again.

I've been known to be a bit dense at times so it's possible I'm completely misunderstanding you.
