I just recovered my windows system partition from an Acronis backup.
Everything works fine except for anything that needs to write to Appdata.
Cannot download, cannot run Dropbox, or create new user profile at logon.
I have tried "Take Ownership", have set my user as owner via security settings, have given my user full control, but nothing works.

Would welcome any advice or info.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Unfortunately that would remove all applications other than those from Windows Store.
I have quite a lot of those, so it's not really an option.

Your suggestion gave me an idea.
Used Windows Easy Transfer to create a transfer file.
Did the refresh, which did solve the access problems, but unfortunately there seems to be a bug with WET.
Although there had been no change in language settings WET reported a difference and would not complete the transfer..
Since I had to re-install all apps I just did a clean install on Windows.

I have re-opened this thread because the issue has cropped up once again.
After a partition recovery I had to re-establish ownership and reset permissions.
This is definitely a Windows 8 problem and not a problem with Acronis True Image.

Have just been informed by Acronis support that this may be because of "Secure Boot" in Win8.
Will check this out first chance I get an report on result.
