How to Change Picture on Startup Screen

I am trying to figure out how to change my picture on my Windows 8 startup screen. I looked at a few tutorials on how to do it; so far nothing has worked out for me.

    Thanks everyone!!!

Do you mean the lock screen, boot screen, or the start screen?

This is the screen that I see when I hit Start > Shutdown > Sleep, and then the computer comes back on after it's been in 'sleep' mode. I think it has to do with the Windows Live ID. I think there is supposed to be something like Personalize > Colors, background, lock screen, and your account picture. However, under Personalize, I see only only basic features; nothing asks me to change a picture here.

I've tried many different things to get this picture updated. It's a picture of me, from 10 years ago. Kinda nice, but definitely time for an update. I think this came from my Hotmail account. There doesn't seem to be any easy way to update this thing, but there has to be a way to do it!!

Thanks, MrShowdown. I actually saw that link before I posted my question. I downloaded an image from the web and placed it in BOTH folders. I rebooted my machine; I still get the old picture showing up. I think this is called the 'lock screen'. I used to have to enter a password to get past this screen; I disabled it because it was annoying. Anyway, I think this is the right process, but nevertheless, I still do NOT get the picture showing up. Any other ideas???

    Thanks again!!!

See my post #3. If not what you need, then show us a snip of what you are trying to replace.

If I hit the Button > Shutdown > Sleep, the computer goes into sleep mode. I hit the power button to bring it back up. I see a maroon colored screen with a picture of me from 10 years ago. There certainly is NOT a tranquil mountain scene popping up, even though this is the jpeg that I put into this path:
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\User Account Pictures

I put the same mountain scene into this path:
    C:\Users\Ryan\AppData\Local\Temp

However, it makes NO SENSE to put it into a Temp directory, which will (should) get purged when I clean all the garbage files off my computer when I run a couple Windows Cleaners that I have installed.

Finally, why do I have a Button? This is really Windows 8, but after struggling with the interface for a couple months, I caved in and installed a small utility that changed the interface to Windows 7 (cost $3). Working on Windows 8, it would literally take me hours and hours to do things that should only take a couple seconds on Windows 7. The underlying OS is definitely Windows 8; it only looks like Win7. None of this should have anything to do with the inability to change the picture. In fact, Win7 doesn't even have this annoying 'lock screen', thank goodness!!

Thanks for jumping in, norepli. I go here:
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Personalization\I see nothing at all about changing any picture. This is all I see:

I've been here dozens of times. I don't see any way to change the picture.

Windows 8 is totally NOT worth the hassle. I should have stayed with Windows 7. Ugh!!!

Anyway, thanks for trying to help me!!
