Is it me or does everybody has to drag into the ether below the start button for those options to appear. Its crazy- first i drag the mouse into ether, then click on settings, then on the power icon then shutdown (or restart. restart is retarded BTW). I got rid of the metro ui (why's it called metro?) and back to win7.....err....win8.

Mmm, I don't see a Start Menu. If I click Desktop, and then click the Start Square, I just get back to this view.....

You drag your mouse all the way into the bottom left hand corner and the little black start menu will appear.

Hmm, this may be ok for a tablet or smartphone with a touchscreen, but this sure isn't better on a desktop IMO.

Mmmm. I'm not so sure about this Windows 8.....I know its still early days, but it's probably quite good for tablets and phones, but for dekstops.....I don't know. First impressions and all of that you know.

It feels like a dumbed down Windows 7 to me.....is this basically the plan for the final 'look & feel' of it?

    Perhaps we'll see a split :

    - Windows 7 for desktop/PC enthusiasts
    - Windows 8 for tablets/phones

All those sliders look exactly like they do on my ....I mean my wife's.... Windows Phone.

Its highly dumbed down, Colin. I wept when I saw the recovery options, it actually does a little reboot when you choose command prompt.

The design language is called Metro because of the way they got the idea from "Metro" style signage in Washington (Redmond) areas.

    Metro (design language)

Unless they change the Metro option this will be a very short lived trial on my Desktop.
