OIC what you are saying. I have to concur with that, the average end-user doesn't want to really learn any O/S.
They just want it there, sort of like a TV, or radio.

Create a new partition for installing other OSs AFTER Windows 8 is installed? A new partition on the same physical drive or another partition on another physical drive? Will it still work?

Windows 8 already has improved security over other Windows OSs.

At this point in time, I can honestly say I wouldn't use it if it were free... It's as convoluted as a first time Linux distro attempt.

I'm going to try to come at this with a better outlook and see if I can salvage something beneficial from the new UI after reading some remarks from users claiming it's efficient. Even so, I still say it's intuitive challenged.

I'm still not used to the start menu. I keep clicking there when I want to open a folder and end up in an endless loop between my desktop and metro ui. I didn't like most of the apps that came with it. The games looked pretty silly and childish. Tube rider was confusing. That one with the labyrint was the only one I actually liked. Socialite looks fine, but I would like if it had more options that you have on facebook.

There are tablet and smartphone applications, they do not really have much of a place in the desktop where there are many far more robust applications and games.

However, this is hardly the only problem with the Start Screen. Virtually all users that run multiple screen setups are bound to reject it as the Start Screen covers all monitors!!! But there are many other usability problems, too numerous to mention. This is an interface that MS should have made optional (but then, who would run it?)

I found metro fun at first, as it was the "new shiny thing", but now I'm just bored.

I hear you. I agree. I have to admit that I never found it visually appealing, especially the veritable wall of grey squares that one cannot really organize into anything sane and the blanketing of all my monitors. I deleted it in a hurry
