Launch 'GPEdit.msc to get rid of 'Lock Screen'?

How do I launch 'GPEdit.msc to get rid of the 'Lock Screen'. The advise I have is that if I can't get anywhere in the 'Search' box on the Start menu then I have to search for 'mmc' & then press 'Enter'. Can anyone explain this. I've put both terms in 'Search' on the Start menu & can't get any results.

If you are on standard Windows 8, you don't have gpedit.msc. This is only on Windows 8 pro.

So if you have a Windows 8 Core (either Core, CoreSingleLanguage, or CoreMultiLanguage) the only method you can do to disable Lock Screen is using Option One in medab1's post.

Thanks guys, I should have mentioned I did already try 'Run' when the advice mentioned the word 'launch'. Yes, I do have the standard W8, so I guess I'll just forget all about it. But I do appreciate all the help that 'eight forums' members have given me. I'm sure I will have more questions until I get this new system figured out-if ever!

Do anybody ever noticed that you can instead of dragging the lock screen up you can press CTRL?
