I have an 8GB flash drive that's write protected. There is no lock/unlock on the flash drive. How can I reformat/erase the contents so I can use the flash drive for other things?
I've tried low level and that didn't work.
Thank you.

How did you get a flash drive write protected in the first place ?
Anyway, try this to see if it works:
Open an elevated command prompt then use the followings:
  1. diskpart
  2. list disk
  3. select disk n =============> n is the number of your flash drive
  4. attributes clear readonly
  5. exit

This should remove the write protected and hopefully you can format it.

Good luck !!!

Thank you. After "list disk" there are 4 numbers. How do I find the number of the flash drive?
I see the GB's amounts of my OS and external hard drive but don't see one with 8 GB (which is the flash drive.)

Did you plug it in the USB port before you run diskpart ? What was the format of the flash drive before ? was it Fat32 or NTFS ? Do you see it in the Disk Management ? You might have done some damage when you try to low level format it.
