So, lenovo isn't very good company, when you are considering to buy a laptop and install windows 8, because not everything works, because of lenovo laziness. I.e., lenovo power management doesnt work, because there is no such a thing for windows 8, you have to use windows 7 version - it installs, it runs, but it doesnt do anything, things like "optimize for battery health" doesnt work... Yeah, my laptop is only "windows 7 ready", but i saw same stories with "windows 8 ready" lenovo laptops too... Or, hotkeys UI is mesed up - when you modify sound volume or brightness, you see one bar from lenovo software and one bar from windows 8. So, whats your opinion about your laptops brand policy about windows 8 ?

fwiw; Bought a win7 Lenovo last april. Did the 40 dollar win8 upgrade buy.
They have had win8 drivers quite a while out for my model.

Win8 Lenovo Energy Management has the 50% battery on ac setting and installs some mini drivers, ahci, some others too. Works fine here. Seem to have the full gamut of drivers for my cheapo G570 i3. Needs them all to activate the laptop style features Fn key. Bad part is they don't tell you which driver have what features .. doesn't seem to make sense on some - but, that's China ways.

Everything works ok for me after some tinkering. I have one shut down warning left in event viewer.. an open reg handle to some uninstaller that is persistent. Actually worked ok with Microsoft generic excpt lacking the special laptop stuff.

startas▬ you may need to download/update drivers from Lenovo.
If you had your laptop scanned by MS to get your 8 upgrade, it will work. You may have to work on it first tho. Or try reinstalling your upgrade.

Hi there
I Wiped clean a Lenovo for a friend recently -- did a total fresh W8 install and it worked straight OTB. Not a problem in sight.

W8 seems to be able to find nearly all the current hardware -- I remember even on an older Sony VAIO laptop Windows 8 found a driver for the DUAL built in card reader (SD and Sony pro DUO sticks).

With W7 only the SD part of the card reader would work -- with W8 both slots worked.

Cheers
