Hello,

I am a new user to Win 8 and sometimes i find it quite confussing. For example on my old computer (win xp) if there was a dvd playing and i clicked minimize i could find it again on the taskbar. When i pause cyberlink powerdvd and minimize it i can never find it to resume the dvd. I end up opening the tray and then closing it and waiting for the player to ask me if i want to resume. Can someone please tell me where to find the player without having to do all that?

Thanks,
Ladi

Hi there

Easy way to find any program with Windows 8 from the desktop

1) Press the Windows +X keys
2) you get a little popup menu at bottom left of screen. Choose search
3) search screen appears - now enter application name.

Incidentally you can pin an often used application to the quick launch taskbar at the bottom of the screen.

Another idea is to pin it to your Desktop (like W7, XP etc).

when you've found the application chose OPEN FILE LOCATION. Then Right mouse click on the .EXE file and chose Send to Desktop (create short cut).

Then it works just like W7 / XP. click on the desktop icon for the player you've just created.

However I'd try downloading VLC player -- it's FREE and doesn't seem to have any problems whatever DVD's from whatever region you try and play.

I also think that BLU RAY is in beta testing too for this application. IMO much better than PowerDvd or WinDVD and FREE.

download from here

VideoLAN - Download official VLC media player for Windows

Went back to VLC media player

:dinesh: I went back to VideoLan because it comes in portable version and the clarity of my videos is really great. I may have regrets that I re-installed my Itunes, we shall see, but it does a nice job of media organization. I use Freemake Video converter because on my PC it is really fast. And I really just cannot resist good freeware. I am glad I found this forum, I don't find many this useful. Glad I came...
