I currently have the basic version of Win 8 & saw on the news that there will be an upgraded version available in the near future. Any idea what new features this new version will contain and a possible price point to upgrade, or even what it will be called? I am using it on a non-touch screen laptop if that makes any difference.

Thanks

Hi there
It doesn't matter what you buy --hardware or Software -- there's always only ever two options.

1) company goes out of business or ceases development on the older stuff usually known as "legacy".
2) Update comes out -- usually a PAY FOR version. It might not be called Windows 9 but I'll bet there's people in Ms right now working on the NEXT version of Windows -- probably not yet on technical specs but they will no doubt be looking at the possibilities, functional changes to W8 and preparing some sort of POC ("Proof of Concept").

New versions of Windows don't go "out of the door" just like that -- there's always at least 2 or 3 years lead time.

Note that sometimes even brand new hardware can have a very limited lifespan -- I suspect this will happen with Touch -- Touch can now be projected to external surfaces etc rendering a "Classical Touch screen" obsolete already.

I refer you to THIS post in the Forum.
