    Taskbar always on top

    Hello guys,

I have just lept from xp pro to windows 8 pro cutting out vista and 7, so I have a bit of learning to do.

First little niggle, when using Google chrome, it is on top of the taskbar.

In xp there was a "taskbar always on top" box in properties which fixed it.

    I can't find it in 8.

I have both Google Chrome and Foxfire as well as Internet Explorer 10.

Windows 8 is already complicated enough. It's set up to run in Internet Explorer 10. If you continue to use Google Chrome not only will you flounder for weeks but you will become miserable to boot.

You didn't say what you are running Win 8 on. It is set up to run on desktops and laptops with conventional screens/monitors as well as touch features. On laptops both touch screen and touch pad. Further it's also now on notebooks, pads and smart phones.

If you run Internet Explorer 10, when you open your start screen there are two ways to open your home page. From the desk top icon, big blue E and/or from the task bar which is below. From the desk top it opens without tool or task bars. That's a space saver for touch screens, particularly the smaller notebooks and pads. From the task bar it opens the tool bars on top.

The four corners are "hot". When you place your mouse arrow in a corner something happens. Lots of things. In your start screen just start typing. A search feature will open that is loaded with things. In the lower left corner in "start", right clicking it opens a list of 16 items. Right clicking the task bar opens more too.

You can have several tool bars across the top including Google which I do have there.

Windows 8 is so loaded with features that it takes a lot of time to learn them. One such is an elaborate series of keystrokes that do all sorts of feats.

So first thing, I shall abandon chrome.

    This cures the taskbar niggle.

I have a file "windows.old" left over from my previous installation. There is nothing in it I want.

When I try to delete it, it first tells me I need admin permission, and when I take care of that, it then tells me I need system permission.

Forgot to say, it is in a desktop pc, pretty old one actually.

I found the solution to this today.

I had been using the windows 8 version of chrome.

Using the normal version started from the desktop taskbar is on top.

So just in case there is anyone else as dim as me.

I saw that earlier, but didn't think of it as a toggle.
