Solved Win 8 installed on 2 drives

I did a clean install of win 8 on the main drive C; I alsohave another (partitioned) hard drive which I use for storage etc. The OSinstalled with no problems but I did notice that the 1[SUP]st[/SUP] partitionon the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] drive had lost its drive letter, so I gave it another.After spending a week loading all my software and having a good play I decidedto create a system backup. The default drives to backup included the renamedpartition on the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] drive, and the backup file size was in excessof 100 Gigs. I disconnected the second drive to see if win 8 would still start,it will only load if I select windows 7 and then defaults to the old windows 7style F8 startup. Win 8 still seems to run ok when loaded. I’ve tried runningthe repair disk but it can’t repair it.
Is there a way around this, can I re-install win 8 as anupgrade so I keep all my software (keeping the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] drive disconnectedduring install), or do I have to put up with starting in win 7 mode.

Since posting I've read this http://www.eightforums.com/installa...cessary-dual-boot-screen-num-lock-always.html I've changed things around in the bios but it still will not repair, the screen shot shows the C drive as 1 instead of 0 ? J drive was active.

Physically disconnect the J: D: HD Drive.
Make the Windows 8 HDD, disk0 & first HD boot in BIOS.Also connected to the first Sata port on the MOBO.
Than do a Auto Repair first,

When Windows is booting OK, replace J: D: HD Drive back in, as Disk 1.

Thanks theog but it didn't work. The only question now is do I do a fresh install or re-install and try and keep all my software, after first disconnecting all drives except the target drive.
Will refresh do the same?

Just completed a clean install, re-connected all drives and all ok.

The suggested remedy didn't work but I no longer have a problem because of the clean install, do I mark this thread "solved"
