Solved Stuck on Selective Startup

For some reason System Configuration's Startup Selection is stuck on "Selective startup". When I change it to 'Normal startup" and close ad then reopen System Configuration it reverts back to "Selective startup".
Also, not sure if it's related, maybe once out of every 4 or 5 boots Windows 8 starts to the Desktop instead of the Start Screen.
This is a relatively new install.

This is normal for msconfig to be on "Selective startup" now. It's the same for me.

So are you able to change it to Normal startup?

You could, but it will only revert back to "Selective Startup" being selected by default the next time you open msconfig.

It's been to long for me to remember exactly when and what, but it started doing that sometime back after some update in Windows 7.

Let me ask you this.
How do I know that all the proper services are being executed???

Startup programs and services are two different items though.

You could check to make sure that all of your startup items are enabled.

For the unrelated services, you could compare your services to their default settings listed in the table in the tutorial below to see if they match.

Good to read (that this is occurring for others)! I was wondering how/why my startup had changed to a Selective Startup from Normal. I was worried something had gone wrong.
