Hi Guys!

I've got a serious problem with my new laptop. This was a Christmas present I received from my parents and I was so grateful (as I used to have VISTA - and was advised by a salesman when I told him I had a vista laptop to "BURN IT, BURN IT WITH FIRE."). Anyway. I haven't had any issues with my laptop, but today it has restarted itself 8 TIMES and counting. It keeps telling me it needs a Java update. and the java pop up comes on my screen from oracle etc. So I press 'install' and my laptop begins to install, then all of a sudden comes up with a blue screen with a ' :( ' then says Windows has discovered a problem and has to restart. I'm going crazy here. Someone please help me it would be truly appreciated!

Thank you so much.

Can you uninstall Java? That ought to get rid of the auto updater as well.

If you need Java, you can re-install it by going to java.com: Java + You.

That salesman was a jerk, by the way.

Salesperson not very bright. This problem is starting to turnup here; it may be this. I have no confidence in the solutions found in the link. Just trying to inform you at this point. Am looking around to see if there are better threads on the problem.

Edit: Searched on jucheck.exe. There are a lot of data out there. Not sure which can be classified as useful info. I suggest you do the search I did--to see what you think. I am not yet prepared to give a solution I have any real confidence in.

You could try running and AV / AM scan.

There has been as of late some "WARNINGS" about java vulnerabilities with windows 8. So you may have been exposed to some virus or malware that is now causing your issue. I would just clean reinstall and start over.
