I have never had the problem. I searched on "how to unlock computer laptop," and came up with many links possibly pertinent to you. You might try the same search. And, some here undoubtedly have info about the same, or a similar, problems, and will come up with suggestions for you pretty soon.

Give it a shot if you are not worried about what's on your computer. Not sure what happens in Windows if you try to reinstall using, for example, a full clean install disc (which not many have) if the computer is locked. On a Mac, you wouldn't be able to install if a special unlock password has been set--without the password of course.

OK, but you could wait for others to chime in; that should happen pretty soon.

Remove all peripherals connected to the laptop, USB sticks, battery, disconnect the mains, press the Power button for a few seconds and leave the laptop to rest for 2 mins, try again to boot.

"locked for 2 days"? Not a Windows 8 feature, I imagine.

It sounds like it may be related to an anti-theft feature. I didn't find a FAQ answer that described that at support.acer.com. If no fellow sufferer posts here, you may have to contact Acer. (Or enter your unlock code in 2 days?)

I have no personal experience with anti-theft software. My vintage 2008 cheapo Compaq laptop is eminently stealable, not that a knowledgeable thief would want it.

Hi there
not quite sure I understand your problem.

What do you mean by computer is "Locked".

1) It Physically won't OPEN -- I.e the lid won't open.

2) You can't get into the BIOS or the Bios requires a master password

3) Windows doesn't Boot

4) Windows boots but you can't login

If you can get into the BIOS then you can always set the boot device to say a USB stick and then re-install windows from a W8 install or recovery disk.

Unfortunately these days you don't get recovery media --they usually have that wretched manufacturers recovery partition which isn't of any use if you can't boot in the first place.

What you CAN do though is to use another computer to download the Windows 8 Enterprise evaluation system from Ms (FREE) and install that -- hopefully then from that system you'll be able to access the Recovery partition and then you can build your proper recovery media and then re-install your system.

Cheers
jimbo
